What do you aim to say by the themes in your work?
A sense of poignancy, to trigger a memory, or an emotional response through strength and simplicity of image and color. A sense of wonder, harmony, beauty and balance.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Literally I find inspiration everywhere. Hence the wide variety of subject matter. Light and color, drama, the possibilities these are all exciting components of creative problem solving.
How would you describe your creative process?
Meditative. I try and practice everyday.
What is integral to your work as an artist?
Time. Temperament. A lot of introspective work. Learning to be driven but also kind to myself.
Do you have any experiences that have impacted your art?
The summer before I started college I worked as an intern/apprentice to Ansel Adams at his studio in Carmel. A priceless experience that I am still learning from to this day.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
Work, work a lot. Learn your art like a language, be proficient with it. Make adapting a pleasure. Understand that there are no mistakes just adjustments.
