Watercolor coffee filter flowers are a perfect 10-minute craft for any age! Make one flower or an entire bouquet! Don't forget to submit your masterpiece to be exhibited in our Community Gallery under the "Get Involved" tab.
Estimated time: 5-10 minutes
Materials:
2 Coffee filters (per flower)
Watercolor paint
Paintbrush
Scissors
Pipe cleaner
Plastic or non-absorbent surface (can be done on paper towel but the colors will be dimmer)
Step 1

Stack the two coffee filters on top of each other. Fold the two in half, fold again, and fold in half a third time. The filters should make a triangular shape here.
Step 2

Cut three dome shapes on the circular edge to make petals.
Step 3

Open the coffee filters. Begin applying watercolor to the petals and work your way into the center. Only apply paint to the top filter. For best results, apply a layer of water to the filter before applying paint. Continue with a more watered down layer, and end with a layer of drier paint for a stronger color. You can create any design or pattern you want.
Step 4

Separate the filters, and let them sit for 1 min.
Step 5

Grab the bottom filter and pinch it in the center while holding it upside down. Cover the filter with the second filter and in the center. Fluff and arrange the petals as desired.
Step 6

Wrap the pipe cleaner around the bottom of the flower and secure it tightly. Let the flower dry completely for 2-3 hours.

Wowwwww I’m in love w/ this!
