"Our society is obsessed with beauty. Iconographically re-proposed theme from the dawn of time in painting. Where to find this epiphanic "Beauty" in painting today? Well, in my case I have seen this "beauty", this otherness incarnate in a surprising way in the world of fashion"

Dmitrii Volkov:

"Discomfort is a feeling that many people try to avoid. It's where a lot of processes take place. I tried to explore this territory with the emotion of loss, the problem of detachment, and what scares people in the moment. A lot of stories come from this, long forgotten or lost, something new grows from there, maybe not immediately, but it is discovered later, what is it's own."

Exhibiting in different countries has given me insights into what appeals to certain populations. And I feel that my work appeals most to the British and American market. I can only truly feel satisfied painting what appeals to me the most—women. So where I exhibit doesn’t change what I paint.

Thomas Nickles Project gallery sits at the crossroads of old-world charm and cutting-edge culture, nestled among the neighborhood’s eclectic mix of boutiques, trendy bookshops, cafes, and iconic tenement buildings.

What I try to do with my painting is to detect tensions, ambiguities, and precarious balances — all things that are always there in some way.

This month's issue of Modern Renaissance is a meditation on the power of art. To not only resist but to revive and embody, drawing from the raw edges of the personal and the political, the intimate and the collective. From Feminine Energy: Resistance and Revival by Artseeker Gallery in New York to Trouble by Dmitrii Volkov at Lespace63 Paris, these works pulse with memory, vulnerability, rebellion, and meaning. These artists confront the pressures of identity, migration, gender, spirituality, and grief--often blurring boundaries between inner worlds and external realities.

THEIR WORK SPEAKS NOT JUST OF AESTHETICS, BUT OF SURVIVAL.
