Portraits in red and grey

Artist: Vincenzo Cohen

Based Italy

Portraits in red and grey is the last work project in progress. Across the centuries of the history the exposition intends to show historical figures in the light of their cultural context. The source of inspiration stems from sculpture in moving form, from three-dimensional to two-dimensional representation. These historic figures are often isolated in a neutral background, rapt in hermetic expressions, to emphasize the need for psychological introspection. The art collection includes a series of portraits produced between 2014 and 2021. It represents a return to painting, after ten long years of silence.

the_artist_at_work (3) - VINCENZO CURCIO.jpg

Vincenzo Cohen (birth name, Vincenzo Curcio) is an Italian classically trained nature painter and photographer. In 2005 he graduated in Fine Arts from Fine Arts Academy and in 2007 he achieved the second master's degree in Archaeology from la Sapienza University in Rome. Polyhedric artist, his eclectic production is the result of a continuous process of historical-scientific research addressed to the representation of cultural content with a social and naturalistic background. His work consists in reworking of life and travel experiences through an expressionist language, by means of photography and through the poetic expression.
