AFTER SHOCK
DMITRII VOLKOV
Born in Russia and now based in Paris, Volkov has spent the last three years journeying across Europe, threading his life through visual art and music.
Along the way, he has performed on major stages, interpreting jazz and connecting with audiences.
His artworks have been seen and presented in Florence, Rome, Amsterdam, Paris, and New York, and have been highly valued in the art world, with private auctions where multiple pieces have been sold. These experiences of visibility and human connection subtly inform his approach to portraiture, giving his work a resonance that goes beyond form.
"AFTERSHOCK" A Charcoal Portrait Exhibition by Dmitri Volkov
"Every silence leaves a trace. Every encounter changes the shape of our soul."
Following the haunting intimacy of Troublé, Dmitri Volkov invites us into a new chapter, After Shock. If Troublécaptured the storm within, After Shock lingers in its wake, the quiet reverberations, the residue of our encounters, the shadows left on the psyche by those we meet.
Each portrait is more than a likeness. It is a psychological landscape, a meditation on presence, memory, and transformation. Through the stark language of charcoal, Volkov traces the invisible threads connecting souls, the echoes of trust and betrayal, loss and discovery, destruction and redemption. These faces are mirrors. They ask us: Who do we become in the wake of others?

It’s amazing that a little gallery on a little island can now be visited by anyone in the world. It’s something rather pioneering!
