Who has influenced your work, or continues to influence your work?
Already as a child, I apparently showed artistic talents (according to my mother). My father was a musician and my mother had a unique sense of beauty. It was my family home that influenced my artistic sensitivity.
When did you begin your artist journey?
I drew before I learned to write, I liked it. I was an ordinary boy, a bit more sensitive than my peers. I had already taken part in drawing competitions at school, but my dream was to become a circus performer, unfortunately I didn't get in and I went to an art high school.
What do you aim to say by the themes in your art?
I know that art has great influence and should be used for good causes. I raise various issues from everyday life because I want to say... let's enjoy normality, which is currently short-lived, the changing world brings a "new" normality and it is an increasingly faster and more difficult process...
Where does your inspiration come from?
I am an introvert, I perceive the world through the prism of my observations, thoughts and internal emotions. I look at life as it happens, at politics, people's everyday lives, their affairs, behaviors, stories that are unfolding. I observe nature that soothes me.The result of this process is an image to which I give a title indicating the content I want to convey.
Do you have experiences that impacted your art?
I touch on many distant topics, I do not succumb to imposed trends and fashions, over the years I have experimented in various styles, looking for my own way, until I have developed my own, recognizable style in the message of my art.The space of my paintings always includes drawing, painting, color, perspective... and is always in reference to the classics. My main experience was my fascination with old masters, I followed their biographies, I painted many copies of old masters from different eras, I don't have one most important one, they all contributed so much to art and made art indispensable to man.
Do you feel your art challenges existing barriers?
Yes, I feel it after the reaction of viewers at my individual exhibitions, when I see their interest and fascination, asking about the content of the painting. Their returns to the exhibition hall show that my paintings, saturated with symbolism, find understanding, are read on their own and do not need additional narration. I see that the effect of the clash of current fashion, which imposes on the modern viewer what should be admired as in total abstraction and what should be avoided as in representational art, does not entirely work with the authentic, direct reception of the average viewer. He perceives art with heart and emotion, not the imposed narrative of critics who often promote only the "chosen". Therefore, I believe that we should fight for the presence of contemporary figurative painting on exhibition spaces and shape the audience's tastes based on the classics.
What is integral to your work as an artist?
Observation and time.
