Underland is a series of drawings and paintings focused on what lies underneath our feet and within the Earth. Burrowing creatures build their dwellings and make it a resting place. In the Underland, unique forms of life exist in a rhythm we do not accompany or even notice. I imagine this Underland as a rich and unseen world where even rocks tell the story of the animals and plants that once lived there. A world with the warmth of the Earth and the scent of the untouched. A mysterious and deep world that resembles our inner lives and unexplored memories.

Sabina Puppo grew up amongst artists and is herself the 7th generation of Italian artists in her family. Her art education started at an early age under the tutelage of her grandparents and her father. Her artwork stands out for its primitive style and the sgraffiato of the oil, which she uses to create her own language.
Her themes are based in nature where rolling hills splashed with vineyards and olive groves, seas with playful waves, majestic trees with extensive roots, and an exquisite combination of colors transport the viewer to idyllic settings. Her art celebrates life in rural and coastal Uruguay, as well as in New England, and the Virginian Piedmont in the United States. Her award-winning artwork has been exhibited in museums and public art exhibitions and can be found in private collections around the world.
