"ANTI-ART", February 15 - July 22 2023, Milostka Center for Exhibitions

What do you aim to say by the themes in your art?
I use my art to address social and political issues that I feel strongly about. Whether it's through the use of symbolism and metaphor or more literal representations, I believe that art has the power to inspire change and bring about positive social and political transformation. I hope that my work contributes to that in some way.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from a variety of sources. I'm often inspired by my personal experiences and emotions. I'm also heavily influenced by the world around me, and I try to capture the complexity of nature and the human experience in my work.
Do you have experiences that impacted your art?
Yes, some personal experiences have impacted my artwork. Such as cultural and political events that have taken place in my lifetime. Overall, life experiences provide a rich source of material for artistic expression.
Do you feel your art challenges existing barriers?
Yes, I definitely feel that my art challenges existing barriers. I believe that all art has the potential to challenge existing barriers, whether it's through the use of unconventional techniques or the exploration of taboo subjects, like political ones. This is a huge topic for me because all artists are decriminalised in my home country, Russia. Therefore, speaking directly about your views and expressing them in art is impossible.
What are your long-term artistic goals?
My goal as an artist is to produce art that resonates deeply with an audience and leaves a lasting impact on the art world.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
My main piece of advice would be to never give up on your dreams and never stop learning and growing. There's always more to learn and new techniques to try, so make sure to take advantage of every opportunity to learn and improve your skills. Finally, and most importantly, don't be afraid to put yourself and your work out there. The more you share your art with others, the more feedback and opportunities you'll receive. Believe in yourself!
