Laura Prochilo
Laura Prochilo is a multidisciplinary artist originally from the New York City area. Graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Visual Media. The artists have been traveling the globe and making art ever since. Currently, Porchilo's work spans four continents with exhibitions and collaborations in Italy, South Korea, Iceland, Australia, the United Kingdom, and mainland China.

What do you aim to say by the themes in your art?
My art explores the themes of time and impermanence. We live in a constant state of change, and no condition is truly permanent. Everything is in a forward state of motion, and constantly evolving into something else. Part of being alive is to accept the fact that everything is in a beautiful flux, that we are always adapting and growing.
Where does your inspiration come from?
The world we live in is usually repetitive, often dull, and occasionally ridiculous. Inside the tedious boxes of our day to day lives, we can sometimes feel like we are the punchline to a cosmic joke. But every now and then, we are struck by something different and divine. When we least expect it, beauty takes us by surprise and light shines in the darkest places. It is this dichotomy that interests me the most, and in these crosshairs the inspiration for my art is born.
Do you have experiences that impacted your art?
Of course I do, because in my opinion, art work is unconsciously rooted in personal desires and experiences.Of course. I believe that art is primarily drawn from experience, which is the reason why all art is unique to the soul who created it. No two people have precisely the same collections of things seen or experienced. Most of my artistic creations have stemmed from things in life that have caused me pain, made me think, or forced me to learn. Sometimes it is a combination of all three.
Do you feel your art challenges existing barriers?
As a multidisciplinary artist, I am hoping to break the stigma that artists have to stick to one medium in order to be successful or focused. I believe that most people who are creative in one field are usually incredibly able and talented in many (if not most) creative endeavors. As a woman in art, I am also incredibly excited to be alive in a time where gender normals are changing, and expression and exploration in sexuality is encouraged in mainstream art.
What are your long-term artistic goals?
Long term, I would like to be able to continue to travel the world and create art as I do so. I have been lucky enough so far to visit many different countries and explore a variety of cultures, and I want to continue doing that for as long as I live. Another very important goal is to stay true to myself and what I want to create, because in the age of social media it can be hard to not want to create for an audience. Being able to live comfortably and create is the dream of many artists, I believe.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
Stay true to yourself, and be patient. Art is long and life is short.
