What do you aim to say by the themes in your art?
When I draw, I usually try to convey messages to viewers. I’ve recently developed this concept, and this thought has driven me to observe what’s happening around me. As a visual artist, I’m always eager to conceptually capture social, cultural or psychological phenomena in my country. Then I dig more from them by finding the essence.
Where does your inspiration come from?
This covid-19 crisis is one of the potential triggers for my art. There have been so many intriguing phenomena since this precarious time began. These phenomena have fueled my art, and that, of course, excites me. Then I draw and draw. There’s always a glimpse of inspiration that I can get from them.
Do you have experiences that impacted your art?
Yes, definitely I do. And through them, I can be honest to myself. In art, I also want to express myself by visualizing my personal experiences. And by doing so, I feel like I’ve lifted my inner burden and felt liberated.
Do you feel your art challenges existing barriers?
I feel life itself is a challenge. And that’s how I treat my art, too. I’ve frequently challenged my comfort zones because in my opinion, they create barriers sometimes. Art is an instrument of expression, and when I express myself, a search or dynamic counts. I find lots of ideas and being more open as I’m not in my comfort zones.
What are your long-term artistic goals?
I’ve never set goals for my art, because I feel art is a long-life passion, but I always pick up lessons along the way and upgrade myself. So I just keep on creating.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
Honestly, I need advice for myself, too. Art world is tough. There are millions of talents out there. I feel like there’s a hidden competition. That’s why I can say some mental attitudes are needed. Do what you believe. Just do what you love. Enjoy the journey. Expand your network, and with a little luck, somebody might find your art special.
