What do you aim to say by the themes in your art?

My art aims to depict experiences of intimacy that are universal across identities. My goal is to authentically express the energy experienced in different physical and emotional interactions between and within individuals.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I draw inspiration primarily from the emotions that I have experienced in learning to navigate complicated relationships between and among others as well as within myself. I am drawn to themes that express love, lust, longing, pleasure and pain, togetherness and aloneness, etc.

Do you have any experiences that have impacted your art?

My art is impacted tremendously by my lived experience as a queer and neurodivergent person––making these portraits of intimacy is part of how I come to understand my relationships as I am navigating and experiencing them. I made this piece specifically at a time when I both desired and required to get in greater touch with my self-love and inner strength.

Do you feel your art challenges existing barriers?

My work intends to challenge our surface-level perceptions of bodies by representing experiences of human intimacy and emotion that are universally understandable and relatable, beyond all differences in the body’s physical appearance or abilities.

What are your long-term artistic goals?

I hope to continue making and sharing artwork that resonates deeply within myself and among those who are exposed to it, and I hope to continue to experiment with expressing my perspective through a great variety of media. Mainly, my goal is to remain open-minded and allow myself to continue to learn and expand on my artistic practice.

What advice do you have for aspiring artists?

Surround yourself with the things that move you, create art as frequently as possible, and only pursue work that inspires you.
