Rossi Charmoli

A well traveled multi-faceted artist that looks to various mediums for self-expression and discovery. Either by internal or external observations I am always drawing inspiration from the people I meet or the strangers I pass by. Every second I live on this planet, in this body, it tells me more of what it is and why it is and like a dream I seem to know it and then it fades as quick as it came. I. These moments is when I aim to make something to share with those who may feel it as well.

What do you aim to say by the themes in your art?
I speak about and search for the connection between humanity and nature. Drawing upon the imagination and emotions of myself and the viewer in each piece. I think of each piece as a conversation between myself and that moment and am hoping to arouse a conversation within the viewer. Prompting them to ask questions, what is this I am looking at and what emotions does it make me feel? and then eventually awaking questions within themselves and the nature of their life and life around them with an awe for the beauty existing around us always if we only look in a open way.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration really comes from everywhere. Myself, the people I know, the strangers I see, the earth and it’s wonders, the discovery of the unknown, the changing of society and hope for a more enlightened and harmonious world. And so much more honestly it can be the simplest thing or the most elaborate thing and everything in between that sparks a rush of energy that must be passed along the next person through some form of communication.
Do you have experiences that impacted your art?
I have known so much love and care in my life, from friends and family to first met strangers. That really propels me to pass those notions along to others. That and I have a very active dream life awake and sleeping. So to speak to others and speak to them at the deepest part of themselves really inspires my art.
Do you feel your art challenges existing barriers?
Perhaps it challenges it in a way that it combines schools of thought like the usage bold modern color theory and the figurative or sometimes representative symbolism of the romantics or surrealist with mark gestures of the expressionist. Also with leaving the meaning interpretive so the viewer can come up with their own story making each work personal to them. Empowering them in a way.
What are your long-term artistic goals?
I would like to continue to grow and connect with more people in more impactful ways. There are so many dream projects that I have ranging from films to music to architecture to fashion that I could go on for a long while about all the things I would like to do artistically.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
Always follow your heart. You know more than anyone else what it is you’re doing so trust yourself in what you’re doing and give yourself love for that. Then spread that love through others, whether it’s collaborative projects or simply appreciating others and their one of kind views and expressions of themselves and the life around us.
